MUZAFFARGARH: A former executive engineer (EXEN) and three other officials of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) were removed from service after an inquiry into misappropriation worth Rs100 million proved them guilty.

Former EXEN Public Health Engineering Muzaffargarh Amjad Saleem Khan was dismissed from service as he along with three others was found involved in ‘scam’ of sewerage scheme and installation of tuff tiles.

Sub-Divisional Officer Talib Hussain was sacked and SDO Tehsil Jatoi Latif Ahmed was prematurely retired after being found involved in corruption. Shahid Naeem, sub-engineer of Public Health Engineering Department , was also dismissed from service.

Secretary Housing Rana Saleem Ahmed Khan issued retirement and dismissal orders to the officials.

The secretary said the officials were penalised for misappropriation of funds. He said the officials could not defend themselves.

He said the inquiry report was submitted by Director General Multan Development Authority (MDA) Kaiser Saleem, who was head of the probe team.
