SHANGLA: Shangla deputy commissioner Hassan Abid has cancelled the tenders of various development projects, which were to be held on March 21, on the directives of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Issuing the order on Saturday, he various development schemes coming under the district development plan 2022-23, whose approvals had been issued under the Annual Development Programme, had been withdrawn immediate effect.
The development schemes of roads, streets and water supply were approved by the provincial government through former minister for labour and culture Shaukat Yousafzai, who belongs to Shangla, on January 17, 2023.
Meanwhile, Alpuri tehsil council chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Waqar Ahmad Khan alleged the uplift schemes were withdrawn on the directives of the prime minister’s adviser Amir Muqam.
He said the Shangla deputy commissioner had cancelled the recently-approved projects despite the fact that date for next elections was yet to be announced.
He said the ADP projects were approved during the PTI government after fulfilling all the legal formalities. He alleged the caretaker provincial government was acting on the whims of the PML-N-led central government.
The tehsil chairman said he would soon challenge the decision in the Peshawar High Court.
MILLS SEALED: Bisham assistant commissioner Mohammad Jawad Asif on Saturday sealed three flour mills located in Dandai area for not maintaining quality of flour.
Accompanied by his staff and police, Mr Asif visited the three mills following the public complaints. He found the flour quality poor and sealed the mills.
H told journalists on the occasion that he had repeatedly warned the owners of flour mills to produce good quality flour, but they didn’t pay heed.
