LAHORE, Jan 13: The Indian cricket team on Eid day (Wednesday) visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre met cancer patients and saw state-of-the-art treatment facility. The team accompanied by its coach Greg Chappel and officials from Indian Cricket Board had visited the hospital on the special invitation of former Pakistan cricket team captain and hospital’s board of governors chairman Imran Khan.

According to a SKMCH&RC spokesman, Mr Imran Khan along with the key officials from the hospital’s administration welcomed the guests and took them on a detailed tour of the cancer treatment facility. The team members met patients, especially excited young children as well as the staff members.

The Indian cricketers distributed chocolates and gifts among the children.

Speaking on the occasion, Imran Khan thanked the Indian team for visiting the hospital. He recalled that the Indian team had offered its support for the SKMCH&RC at the time when the project was about to start in 1989.

Mr Khan said this visit would certainly boost the morale of the doctors, staff and patients.

Indian skipper Rahul Dravid thanked the hospital management for providing his team an opportunity to visit this great hospital, built by a cricketing legend.

He said the entire team was inspired by the cancer treatment facilities being provided free-of-cost to a majority of the patients. He appreciated the services being rendered to alleviate the sufferings of the ailing humanity.
