MARDAN, Jan 10: People have expressed concern over rising prices of sugar, flour and edible oil in the market and criticized the government’s failure in stabilizing the prices, shows a survey. Sugar in the local market is selling at Rs32 per kilogram, flour at Rs13.5 per kg, flour at Rs17 per kg, ghee Rs58 per kg and cooking oil is available for Rs69 per kg.
The high prices of these items have subsequently affected other items in the market like bread, biscuits, sweetmeat, cake, sandwich, etc.
People interviewed during the survey said that the state-run utility stores sold sugar at Rs23 per kg but it was available in limited quantity and on fixed days.
They called upon the government to ensure that sugar and other essential items were available in utility stores at all the times and at discounted prices.
