BANNU, Jan 8: The District Council of Bannu unanimously approved a budget of more than Rs 890 million for the 2005-06 financial year here on Saturday. The budget session was presided over by convener Syed Fakhruddin Shah. Speaking on the occasion, Bannu Nazim Azam Khan Durrani assured the members that all development projects in the district would be carried out with the consultation of the councillors.

Speaking at the session, union nazim Hamid Khan said that equal funds had been allocated for each union council in the budget.

ARREARS: Town Council-I Nazim Malik Raza Khan has said that legal action will be taken against the Town Council-II if arrears outstanding against the latter and Town Council-I’s property are not returned immediately.

He was speaking at a meeting of the council, presided over by convenor Musharraf Alamgir, here on Saturday.

Raza Khan said the Town Council-II owed Rs7.4 million to the Town Council-I and the former had also occupied its property for four years.

A legal action would be taken against the Twon-II administration if they failed to pay back the amount and return the property, he said.

Malik Raza said though the provincial government had been informed about the matter, it would be better if the issue was resolved through the arbitration of Bannu Nazim Azam Khan Durrani.

<> PPDA: The Petrol Pumps Dealers Association (PPDA) has said they would stop sale of petroleum products if the illegal sale points in Bannu and the North Waziristan Agency were not wound up after Eidul Azha.

The association in its meeting here on Saturday said that all petrol pumps would stop selling petroleum and they would move a court to realize their demands.

President of the association Mushtaq Ahmad told a meeting here on Saturday that illegal sale of petroleum products was on the rise in Bannu district and the adjacent North Waziristan.
