Dera’s Sheikh Badin hills receive snow

DERA ISMAIL KHAN/SHANGLA: Sheikh Badin Hills of Dera Ismail Khan received the first snowfall of the season on Sunday after a gap of about five years.

According to Sheikh Badin National Park management, snowfall started on Saturday and continued on Sunday, adding that more snow was likely overnight.

According to the management, the minimum temperature on the hilltop was recorded -8 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, people of the area demanded of the authorities concerned to speed up the construction of roads leading to Sheikh Badin, which is a popular tourist destination located between Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan districts.

In Shangla, heavy snowfall continued in parts of the district on the third consecutive day on Sunday disrupting routine life due to severe cold and roads’ blockade.

The snowfall blocked Bisham-Swat Road from Machar to Shangla top, Alpuri-Puran Road at Yakhtangay and Karora-Chakesar Road. Similarly the Puran-Buner Road was also blocked at Chagharazai of Makhozay.

The local people in upper parts have complained that electricity supply to Alpuri and Puran areas remained suspended.
