Speaking at a meeting of trade union leaders here on Friday, the NLF president said bureaucracy was using the ordinance for suppression of trade union activities by victimizing the activists.

The ordinance was being used to create an atmosphere of fear in the government organizations because it authorized the bureaucrats to dismiss any employee without giving an opportunity of defence, he said.

He said the ordinance should be repealed immediately because it contravened the principles of justice, and all those dismissed from service under it should be given a chance to defend themselves. Repeal of the law was also necessary for the promotion of good relations between the employers and the employees.
