Three dacoits held after ‘encounter’

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 6: The CIA police claimed to have arrested three members of an inter-district dacoits gang after a brief encounter here on Friday. DPO Muhammad Aslam Khan Tareen told reporters that the police also recovered a huge quantity of weapons, ornaments, household articles, a transformer and stolen silver electric wire from their possession. SP (Investigation) Abdul Karim and City Circle ASP Ijaz Ahmed Khan were also present on the occasion.

The DPO said the arrested criminals Javaid Masih, Arshad alias Sahbi and Muhammad Ali alias Bao were involved in several cases, including attempt to murder, dacoity and robbery.

He said the criminals were wanted by police of Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujrat, Hafizabad and Nankana Sahib districts in more than 25 cases.

The DPO said that a special team led by DSP (Investigation) Haji Khalid Javaid and Sadar CIA in charge Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed nabbed the outlaws after the encounter.

Further investigation is under way.
