No one can dissolve assemblies on a whim: Bizenjo

QUETTA: No individual has the right to dissolve assemblies on a whim because a legislature represents the people, and is not ‘somebody’s fiefdom’, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo said on Tuesday.

“Assemblies and governments represent the people who elect them through their votes,” he said when reporters sought his views on the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.

“As long as I am the chief minister, I’ll continue to serve the people of Balochistan without wasting even a second,” the chief minister said.

In reply to a question, Mr Bizenjo said he had no idea about how long “I will remain in power”. He said politicians should be true to their word, but unfortunately some people never “redeem their promises”.

“Politics is important as a nation’s future is dependent on it,” Mr Bizenjo said.
