Political activists, traders rally against price hike

SHANGLA/CHARSADDA: Political activists and traders on Monday blocked the Puran-Martung Road in Aloch Bazaar of Shangla against price inflation.

Jamaat-i-Islami, Shangla chapter organised the rally. JI district emir Najamullah led the procession.

Addressing to protesters, Mr Najamullah said the rulers had pushed the country into economic crisis, forcing people to come onto the roads. He said Pakistan was once self-sufficient in production of fruits, coal, wheat, rice, but unfortunately today the country was importing even food items to meet the local demand.

He blasted the ruling parties for also staging protests against price hike, which showed that they were not ready to accept their ‘bad governance’.

Meanwhile, Qaumi Watan Party organised a protest rally against inflation and flour crisis in Charsadda. The protesters blocked the Peshawar-Charsadda Road and shouted slogans against the provincial government.

Addressing the protesters, party leaders Fazal Dayan Sherpao, Ashiq Umarzai, Javed Hussain Khan and others condemned the increase in prices of food items, particularly wheat flour. They said the provincial government had failed to provide relief to people.
