QUETTA, Jan 5: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday issued warrants of the SHO Sui for avoiding appearance before the court in the detention case of a doctor. The High Court, presided over by Mr Justice Ahmed Khan Lashari, ordered the DPO Nasirabad Dera Murad Jamali to arrest the SHO Sui and produce him before the court on Jan 9, if he failed to deposit the pre-arrest surety bond of Rs50,000.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Zaheer Elahi in the High Court on Dec 9, 2005, praying that his brother Dr Mohammad Hanif Bugti working as physiotherapist in the Pakistan Petroleum Limited Hospital in Sui went to the hospital for duty on Nov 23, but did not return home.
The petitioner said the district coordination officer (DCO) Dera Bugti had verified his arrest in connection with the PIDC Karachi bomb blast.
He prayed to the court to order for release of his brother from illegal detention.
A division bench of the BHC issued notices to the IGP Balochistan, the Sindh DIG Investigation and the SHO Sui to appear before the court.
The DIG Police Quetta appeared before the court and said the IGP had left for Islamabad to attend a meeting while the notice on the DIG Sindh could not be served.—APP
