BAJAUR: The members of dispute resolution council (DRC) should play their role for promotion of peace and normalcy in the district by keeping close watch over the movement of suspected people in their respective areas and resolve the local disputes in a swift manner on merit.

Deputy commissioner Fahad Wazir and district police officer Shaukat Ali said this during a meeting with the DRC members, which was held at the DC office here on Wednesday.

According to a statement, members of the committee from across Bajaur district and administration officials from Khar and Nawagi subdivisions attended the meeting called by the district administration.

The DC and other officials expressed satisfaction over the performance of DRC for resolving longstanding disputes among the residents in the district.

ROAD PROJECT: Work on the much-awaited road scheme in hilly area of Mamund tehsil was inaugurated here the other day after a delay of about four years as the landowners had earlier refused to give land for the project.

Construction work on the four-kilometre Gataki-Bandari link road project, approved in 2019, was inaugurated by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Gul Zafar Khan in a ceremony held for the purpose in Bandari area.

According to a statement, the landowners have now withdrawn their demands and agreed to give their land for the scheme free of cost following the joint efforts of MNA Gul Zafar Khan and another PTI leader Raheem Dad Khan, the statement said.

PTI BACKS PEACE MARCH: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s local chapter here on Wednesday announced to participate in the Bajaur peace march being held today (Thursday).

The announcement was made by PTI district information secretary Ishaq Zia in a video message. He said that Tehreek-i-Insaf workers would actively participate in the peace march. He also requested people to make the march a success.
