Two robbers awarded jail terms

GILGIT, Jan 4: The anti-terrorism court judge, Mohammad Jamshed Khan, awarded seven and four years’ sentence to two convicts, Sayed Hussain and Ibrar Hussain, respectively, for robbing a Korean tourist in Bar Valley of Nagar, 60kms north of Gilgit. They had looted the tourist, Kum Chun Hu, of items of personal use at gun point in August 2,004. Later, the police had arrested them with another co-accused, Tota Jan, who was acquitted by the court for lack of evidence.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs40,000 on Sayed Hussain and Rs20,000 on Ibrar Hussain, to be paid to the tourist as compensation.—Correspondent
