KARACHI, Jan 3: Sparkling batting by Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Ayub enabled Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) to make a fitting response to PIA’s first-innings score of 384 on the second day of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I fixture at NBP Sports Complex on Tuesday.

SNGPL ended the day at 149 without loss with Hafeez batting on 72 and Ayub 66.

Earlier, Mahmood Hamid hammered his second successive hundred as PIA added 160 to their overnight tally of 224 for six.

The right-handed Mahmood finished with an unbeaten 143. He batted for 347 minutes and struck 12 boundaries and a six.

All-rounder Tahir Khan also played a crucial hand with 47 that included nine fours.

Imran Khalid, the slow left-armer, finished with four for 115 in 38 overs while left-arm paceman Samiullah Niazi took three for 75.
