FAISALABAD, Jan 3: Lyallpur Town Nazim Rana Zahid Mehmood has said a comprehensive plan had been chalked out to recover Rs220 million from various defaulters, and the campaign would be launched soon.

Talking to newsmen, he claimed that more than 95 per cent commercial building owners had violated the construction plan and the TMA had now begun a survey of such structures.

He said 729 owners of such plazas had been issued notices for verification of construction plans, and the violators would be dealt with strictly. The money recovered from these illegal plaza owners would be used for the construction of multi-storey parking plazas around the eight bazaars of the city.

He said a master plan had been chalked out for the uplift and beautification of the city under which new toilets would be built in busy areas, parks would be modernized and street lights would be replaced with the new ones.

Rana Zahid said eradication of corruption from the municipal administration was among his top priorities. The town council was planning to establish at least one park in each union council to be looked after by TMA staff.

He said planning was under way for establishing a water sports park for children in the Jinnah Bagh, while the Fatima Jinnah Bagh was also being redesigned.
