DADU, Jan 3: Students of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro on Tuesday staged a demonstration outside the main campus to protest against deployment of Rangers at the campus.

They were led by Aftab Langah, Javed Jokhio, Abdul Razzaq Soomro and Jamil Ahmed.

The student leaders said that by deploying Rangers in the LUMHS, the government has deprived students of their rights of expression and movement.

They demanded withdrawal of Rangers’ personnel deployed at the campus. The students also stopped point buses to record their protest.

Later, LUMHS Registrar Dr Afzal Memon held talks with students and assured them that the matter would be taken up with high officials.

WATER SHORTAGE: A large number of growers of Dadu and Johi talukas staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest against shortage of irrigation water.

They were led by Khadim Bhatti, Naveed Mallah and Mazhar Bhatti.

They complained that there was artificial shortage of water in Daim and Noorja waterways originating from the Dadu Canal.
