Robber killed in ‘encounter’

KASUR, Jan 30: A robber was killed while his three accomplices were arrested on Wednesday after a brief encounter near Jaja Kalan, Sarai Mughal.

On a tip-off that robbers were looting passersby at a picket, the police conducted a raid on the spot. Taking in the situation, the outlaws opened fire on police which was returned. As a result, Muhammad Aslam of Thatha Pidhran village, Sheikhupura, was killed instantly while his accomplices — Nasir, Tariq Hamid, and Zulfiqar Ali were arrested.

RESIGNATION: Local district Baitul Maal chairman Raja Muhammad Younas Kiani advocate tendered resignation from his office due to personal engagements.
