PESHAWAR, Jan 30: A trial court here on Tuesday issued non-bailable warrants for arrests of the Nazim of union council Sheikh Muhammadi and two other persons.
The Nazim had offered surety on behalf of an accused charged in a narcotics case. The accused, Momeen, was arrested on Oct 17, 2000, and from his possession the police had reportedly recovered 2 kilograms of charas.
Later on, he was granted bail by the court on condition of furnishing two sureties of Rs1 lakh each. The Nazim, Ajmal Khan and another person, Sabir Gul stood surety for the accused, whereas Gul Mast Khan gave their guarantee.
During the trial, the accused did not appear before the court despite repeated notices. The court has now fixed Feb 26 for next hearing.
