BHC bars registration of more cases against Swati

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court on Tuesday ordered police not to register more cases on same charges against Senator Azam Khan Swati and sought details of all cases registered so far against the PTI leader in the province.

A division bench of the BHC comprising Justice Kamran Mullahkhail and Justice Aamir Rana issued the order after hearing a petition filed by PTI leader’s son Usman Swati and the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF).

The PTI senator’s son challenged the remand of his father in police custody ordered by a judicial magistrate. The ILF also challenged the grant of remand and requested the BHC to quash the FIRs registered against Senator Swati.

Judicial Magistrate Abdul Sattar Bugti had remanded the PTI leader in police custody for five days.

Six cases were registered in different cities of Balochistan, including Quetta and Kuchlak, on applications of different citizens on charges of using abusive language and objectionable tweets against the officers of Pakistan Army.

The BHC bench, after hearing the petitioners, ordered the police to not register any more case on the same charges against the PTI leader.
