GUJRANWALA, Jan 1: The two-day workshop of citizen community board organized under the banner of the National Urban Poverty Programme has pleaded for including non-elected members in the board for supervision of construction work. It also urged non-government organizations to support the board for resolving the public problems.

Speaking at the workshop, senior training instructors Afzal Malik, Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Bhutta and Muhammad Illyas said the government provided millions of rupees to the boards for construction of uplift projects but elected members had failed to achieve the results. They had to collect only 20 per cent of the funds by themselves.

They hoped that non-elected members would play an active role in raising the funds and acceleration of uplift projects.
