LAKKI MARWAT: The Ahmadzai Wazir tribe has welcomed the government’s plan to set up an economic zone in Thal Wazir area of Bannu district.

Speaking at a jirga in Bannu on Friday, the elders Malik Hazrat Ali Khan, Farzand Wazir and others said that the establishment of economic zone would bring development to this backward region.

They said that the government would set up important industries, including steel mills, besides building residential colonies under the economic zone project.

The elders said that land had been selected for the cadet college, dry port and oil and gas refinery projects in the area.

The elders said thatthe economic zone project would pave the way for an economic revolution in the southern region of the province. They claimed that the Ahmadzai Wazir tribe had offered thousands of acres land to the government for the establishment of economic zone and convinced the tribesmen by launching an awareness drive about the zone.

They made it clear that the tribesmen would not compromise on quality of construction works launched under the economic zone project.

MILKMEN FINED: Additional assistant commissioner Riaz Ahmad fined over 30 milkmen for selling adulterated milk in Bannu on Friday.

The action was initiated on the directives of deputy commissioner Aun Haider Gondal who had received complaints about sale of low quality milk in the local bazaars.

Riaz Ahmad along with experts of livestock department and food safety authoritycollected samples from the shops, which were examined in the mobile laboratory. He said the reports revealed that 31 milkmen were involved in selling substandard milk.
