QUETTA: At least 10 militants were killed on Tuesday in a gun battle with security forces in the Hoshab town of Kech district.

The military’s media wing ISPR said in a statement that security forces launched an operation on a tip-off that armed people were present in Hoshab. As the forces cordoned off the mountainous area and launched an operation, a heavy exchange of fire ensued between both sides, in which 10 “terrorists” belonging to a banned militant organisation were killed, another was arrested, whereas two others managed to escape.

The forces also seized a large number of arms and ammunition during the operation.

The ISPR statement said the militants killed in the operation had attacked security forces and targeted development projects, M-8 motorway and the coastal highway.
