KARACHI, Jan 30: The Universal Postal Union (UPU) has arranged the participation in the 31st International Letter Writing Competition, the subject of which this year is “Letter to someone (that) you miss”.

The best letter in Pakistan (English version only) will be sent to UNESCO through the International Bureau (IB) of Universal Postal Union, Berne, Switzerland. UNESCO will select three best entries from those submitted to it.

The first three winners will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals respectively bearing relevant inscription and their names and albums of UPU official postage stamps.

In addition, the next four or five winners will be awarded by the International Bureau an album of UPU official postage stamps and certificates.

Pakistan Post Office will also award cash prizes to the best three winners as well as Pakistan Postage Stamps Albums and Certificates. The first prize will be of Rs10,000, second prize Rs7,500 and third prize Rs5,000.

Students not more than 15 years of age can take part by sending a letter either in English or Urdu duly verified by the Head of their School to the Superintendent (International Post), Pakistan Post Office, Islamabad-44000.—APP
