MIANWALI: A rehabilitation fund of Rs110.4 million has been distributed among 305 flood-affected people on the loss of their houses in Tehsil Esakhel of the district at two ceremonies held at Qamar-Mushani and Wandha Sultanwala.

Speaking at the occasion, Mianwali Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Omair said during recent floods large portion of Isakhel was badly affected and as per survey report cheques are being distributed to support the affectees to rebuild their houses.

The survey was conducted by teams of departments of revenue, provincial disaster management authority and Pakistan army.

As per government schedule, the owner of mud house will receive Rs200,000 and Rs400,000 for concrete house.

He said the government had already paid compensation amounts to families having human loss. He said in the second phase as per survey reports the people having loss of their livestock and standing crops would receive payments.

He said the financial aid was being provided to flood affectees at their doorstep just to save them from repeated office visits. He directed recipients to approach his office in case of facing any problem regarding encashment of cheques.

He said: “The distribution of cheques is for the loss of 185 houses of Wandha Sultanwala and 120 houses of Qamar-Mushani.”

He advised the people to rebuild their houses away from the water course because [as per survey] most of the damaged houses were built on water ways of hill torrents.

On behalf of the affected people, MPA Abdul Rehman Khan alias Babli Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf thanked the Punjab government for providing financial help.

Talking to Dawn, flood affectee Rustam Khan said: “We are satisfied with the compensation for rehabilitation which is transparent as compared with the procedure adopted during the 2010 floods.”
