KARACHI: Two days after the killing of a revenue official during an anti-encroachment operation in Surjani Town, police on Wednesday registered a murder case under anti-terrorism law and claimed to have arrested two of the seven nominated suspects.

Manghopir Mukhtiarkhar Ejaz Ali Chandio was shot dead in an armed attack when he along with his team went to Saira Bibi Goth to retrieve an amenity plot belonging to the Saylani Welfare Trust.

SSP-West Faisal Bashir Memon told Dawn that seven suspects had been nominated in the FIR registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

He said Amanullah and his son Bakht Sher were arrested and the pistol used in the murder was also recovered from them.
