SWAT: Regional Police Officer, Malakand region, Sajjad Khan said here on Friday that tourism police were being deployed for the facilitation of tourists at all tourist spots in Swat.

In a statement issued by his office, the RPO said it was encouraging that tourists from different parts of the country had started visiting the valley. He hoped that a record number of tourists would visit the valley during this winter season.

He said that Swat valley was a popular spot for winter tourism when thousands of people visited the valley to enjoy snow-related adventures every year.

“The district administration in collaboration with the provincial government has planned to hold various winter festivals this year. Tourists will be facilitated in various ways, including giving them foolproof security,” he said, adding for this purpose tourism police were being deployed at different spots.

Sajjad Khan said tourists should visit the Swat valley and participate in winter festivals without any fear. He said Swat had fine heritage featuring archaeological monuments with Gandhara civilisation where domestic and foreign tourists were invited.

JUSTICE SOUGHT FOR SWATI: Representatives of Swati Nation Association (SNA) on Friday warned that they would stage protests in Islamabad and Peshawar if justice was not provided to Senator Azam Swati in the video case.

Speaking at a press conference in Swat Press Club, SNA president Farman Ali Swati, Dr Abdullah, Mohammad Zada Swati and others condemned the treatment meted out to Azam Swati.

They said if the honour of a senator was not protected then no Pakistani could feel safe.

“We demand protection of honour and dignity of every Pakistani and demand the Supreme Court chief justice and top officials of responsible institutions to investigate the personal video of Azam Swati,” they said, adding that facts should be made public.

They said the people involved must be brought to justice and punished severely. They also staged a protest in front of the press club and shouted slogans demanding justice for Azam Swati.
