Wonder Craft: Plastic bottle multipurpose organiser

These days, most of the things that we buy come in packaging, whether it is edible or inedible stuff, leaving our house full of plastic, wrappers, boxes and various other materials to be discarded. This is where I think we should all join hands in making use of useless stuff as much as possible.

There is no denying the fact that the more we recycle, the less garbage fills up in our landfills. The best we can do is reusing all the aluminium, paper, glass, plastics and other materials, and reduce the negative impacts that the extraction and processing of these materials has on the environment.

So today, we are making a very useful multipurpose plastic bottle organiser, which can be used in washroom to put washroom or laundry accessories; in kitchen, to put kitchen tools, and on study table for stationary items. So let’s start:

Things you need:

  1. Empty plastic bottles, 12 (250ml, you can make organiser from 8 bottles also if you want a smaller one).
  2. Double tape
  3. Scissors
  4. Jute rope
  5. Ruler
  6. Hot glue (optional)
  7. Jute cloth (optional)

Directions:

  1. From the top of the bottles, mark all, leaving out the first bulge and then cut, pictures 2 and 3.

  2. An average 250ml bottle, if cut from the top, remains 6.5 inches; and for this organiser, you have to make three sets of four bottles. The first set will be 6.5 inches long; the second and the third set will be 1.5 inches smaller than each other. This makes the second set 4-inch long, and the third and the last remains 2.5-inch, which is actually the bottom of the bottle; see pictures 4 and 5.

  3. Paste double tape on one side of all the bottles, picture 6.

  4. Take the first set of bottles and paste them with each other, repeat on the second and the third set. When the bottle sets are ready, join the second with the first one and then join the third with the second one with double tape, picture 7.

  5. Starting from the third or the last set, tie around the jute rope, covering all the bottles, see picture 8.

  6. Keep tying the rope until you reach the edge of the third bottle set’s edge, cut the rope and then with the help of hot glue, secure the end, picture 9.

  7. Repeat wrapping the rope on the second set of bottles until you reach its edge, picture 10.

  8. Repeat the above step on the first set of bottles, then secure the end, picture 11.

  9. The organiser is ready; all you have to do is decorate the way you like. If you have ribbons you can tie them around all the sets separately, but you can keep it simple by leaving it as it is; or paste jute cloth strip around the ropes, like I did, picture 12.

  10. I also pasted a white lace to enhance the simplicity of the craft.
