SUKKUR, Dec 28: A two and a half feet portion of a railway track was blown up on Wednesday evening around one kilometre away from Kandhkot at the Jacobabad - Kashmore intersection. However, no rail traffic was affected.
According to police sources, some miscreants planted a remote controlled bomb on the up-track near Kandhkot which blew up with a huge explosion around 9:00pm. Resultantly the railway track was destroyed on two and a half feet with a three feet deep ditch under the track.
A heavy contingent of police cordoned the entire area and officials of the bomb disposal squad were called from Sukkur.
Railway authorities in Sukkur said that a rescue team had been dispatched to the site of the incident.
They assured that the track would be repaired within next four to five hours after which the traffic would be restored.
The authorities said that they would increase patrolling on the track to avoid such incidents in future.
