Media urged to focus on juvenile rights

PESHAWAR, Dec 28: Speakers at a workshop on Wednesday asked media to focus on juvenile reforms to bring about change in society. The day-long workshop on ‘juvenile justice system’ was held under the auspices of the Society for Protection of Rights of Children (Sparc).

Sparc programme coordinator Jawadullah informed participants that a network of NGOs called Juvenile Justice Network (JJN) had been established to launch a campaign for legal rights of juvenile prisoners.

Spokesperson for the Sweden-based Save the Children, Ghulam Qadri, also spoke on the occasion.

Shireen Niaz said that the Convention for the Rights of Child aimed to give children an elevated status in society and to create opportunities for them.—APP
