RAWALPINDI: The Central Committee of Pakistan People’s Party today [Oct 29] hailed the Constitutional Accord and declared that the Party would abide by it in letter and spirit. President Bhutto, Chairman of the PPP, presided over the meeting which lasted from 10.a.m. to 4-20 p.m. … The Committee expelled Mr. Ahmad Raza Kasuri, MNA, from the Party with immediate effect for his “persistently antiparty conduct” and his “subversive” role of a “rebel” assumed by him in collusion with the Yahya regime against the Party. It decided that in the case of Mr. Abdul Hamid Jatoi, also charged with flagrant violation of Party discipline, the Secretary-General would announce the Committee’s decision in due course. — News agencies
[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Cairo,] The Prime Ministers of North and South Yemen last night [Oct 28] signed an agreement under which the two Republics will be merged into a single State, with one flag, capital and President and unified legislative, executive and judicial authorities. The new State will have a “republican, nationalist and democratic” system of Government with a constitution guaranteeing individual and civil liberties.
The unity agreement issued “in the name of the one Yemeni people” was signed by Prime Minister Mohsen al-Aini of the Arab Republic of (North) Yemen and Ali Nasser Mohammad of the People’s Democratic Republic of (South) Yemen.
