KARACHI, Dec 27: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has assured the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) that newspaper offices in the province would be provided protection and security.
An APNS-CPNE delegation, comprising Inqilab Matri, Kazi Asad Abid and Mohammad Aslam Kazi, called on the governor and apprised him of recent incidents of violence against newspapers in the province.
The delegation also drew his attention to the ban on some newspapers, printing presses; registration of cases against some hawkers; and an incident of harassment of an editor of a Sindhi newspaper in Hyderabad.
The governor asked the provincial home secretary for liaison with the CPNE and APNS to address the issues pointed out by the delegation.—PPI
