WAHI PANDHI SUFFERS: There seems to be no ease in the sufferings of the people of Wahi Pandhi who have been awaiting relief since the recent floods devastated their area. Currently, there is only one functional hospital and it has the services of just one physician who has been attending to hundreds of patients every day. Wahi Pandhi needs medical camps on a war footing since malaria is spreading quickly. The government should mobilise resources urgently to set up medical camps in the area.

REPAIRING ROADS: Infrastructure holds immense significance in terms of connectivity and the flow of smooth economic activities. Also, the quality of roads is taken as an indication of the administrative competence of the local authorities. That being so, roads in Karachi prove beyond an iota of doubt that the local administration is simply incompetent as it has failed to repair the roads after the heavy monsoon earlier in the year. I wonder if the administration is even planning to do something in this regard.

AD HOC POSTS: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) recently announced its intention to appoint subject specialists in BPS-17 in its education department on an ad hoc basis. However, past experience shows that whenever the AJK Public Service Commission tries to conduct exams for filling the said posts, some people take the matter to the court and disrupt the whole process. The relevant authorities should conduct the exams before history repeates itself yet again.

BLACK LAW: The constitutional clauses related to Sadiq and Ameen should be reconsidered by the relevant forum without any delay. It has always been a controversial clause. The terms Sadiq and Ameen were the attributes of the most perfect human being who ever walked the planet. Their use in the context of lesser mortals is itself debatable.
