Plea allowed for FIR against Ahmadi community

KARACHI: A sessions court has directed the police to record statement of an applicant against members of Ahmadi community for allegedly using epithets reserved for Muslims at their worship place in Karachi, and registerd a case if cognizable offence is made out.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) Naseer Noor Khan passed this order on an application filed under Section 22-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, seeking a direction for the Preedy SHO to record his statement and lodge an FIR against the members of the Ahmadi community.

The judge ruled: “Police Station Preedy is directed to take the statement of the applicant on record and if cognizable offence is made out, then statement be incorporated in 154 Cr.P.C. book. In above terms the instant application stands allowed”.

The applicant had alleged that the Ahmadis were inviting Muslims to join their sect and were preaching their religion at their worship place, which resembled a Muslims’ mosque for having a dome and minaret.
