Najaf bowls PIA to first victory

KARACHI, Dec 26: Medium-pacer Najaf Shah snapped up four wickets as PIA registered a thumping 105-run victory over KRL in their third round Patron’s Trophy match on Sunday.

The left-armer Najaf finished four for 36 in 12.2 overs as KRL, chasing 310 for victory in 84 overs, were bowled out for 210 in 56.2 overs.

He got good support from pace fellow Fazle Akbar and Umar Gul, who both claimed two wickets each.

Wicket-keeper Zulfiqar Jan made 35 in 94 minutes while Shahzad Butt finished 27 not out.

It was splendid win for the airlines as they have conceded a 120-run first innings lead to KRL after being dismissed for 123.

PIA opened their account in Pool ‘A’ with six points.
