Appointments of AJK judges notified

MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 29: The AJK Law Department notified on Tuesday the appointment of Sardar Mohammad Nawaz Khan and Ghulam Mustafa Mughal as judges of the High Court in accordance with the advice of the AJK Council.

The two posts in the High Court had fallen vacant in October 2000 and May 2001, and appointment against them had been due since then.

A judge in the High Court is appointed by the AJK president on the advice of the chairman AJK Council (chief executive of Pakistan) and after consultations with the chief justices of the Supreme and high courts.

Sardar Nawaz has been serving as judge AJK Shariat Court (with perks and privileges equivalent to a High Court judge) since 1997, while Ghulam Mustafa Mughal is a senior Muzaffarabad-based lawyer.

Chief Justice AJK HC Syed Manzoor Hussain Gillani will administer the oath to them at the library hall of the court at 10:30am on Wednesday.
