Industries vital for uplift of Balochistan: ex-CM

QUETTA: National Party President Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has underlined the need for collective efforts to promote industry along with quality education in Balochistan for the development of the province.

Balochistan badly needed a business environment that could meet the requirements of the people, for bringing about a positive change in the life of the people, he said while speaking at the annual general body meeting of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He lauded the QCCI and business community for playing a role in establishing industry and promoting trade in the province that he said had created jobs. However, he called for joint efforts to promote trade and industry further.

Dr Malik, who also served as chief minister, congratulated the newly elected QCCI office-bearers and said it would not be possible without quality education and business to deal with the multi-pronged challenges being faced by the province.

“We have thousands of kilometres of borders with neighbouring countries, but we also have a long coastline that can be utilised for the development of Balochistan,” he said.

He said people of the province as well as stakeholders would have to join hands for the development of the province.

Fida Hussain Dashti, the outgoing president of the QCCI, spoke on barter trade agreement with the neighbouring Iran, construction of Bazarcha business terminal, discount in tax valuation and other performance.
