New title for Okara college alumni

OKARA: The Government Graduate College (GGC) Okara’s alumni has been named as Barians in the 65th year of its formation -- as it came into being on Aug 18, 1958.

The GGC faculty headed by Principal Professor Doctor Muhammad Hamood Lakhvi has shown its desire in providing possible means to bring GGC old students at one platform.

The college council headed by Professor Abdul Rauf approved the alumni association as Old Barians Association (OBA) and constituted the executive committee (EC) to reach out to Old Barians and maintain their record for uploading on college website. So far 650 Barians have already been enlisted.

Okara falls in Ganji Bar, the area between the Sutlej and dry river bed of the Hakra also called the River Ravi, linking Sandal Bar and Neeli Bar, adjacent to rivers Ravi and the Sutlej.

Since Okara falls in the centre, from its very inception this city has been a great seat of learning and hub of culture after Sahiwal.
