Taimur leads team to victory

LAHORE, Dec 18: A sudden-death goal by Taimur Ali Malik helped National Feeds win Adisseo Cup polo beating Shahzor Feeds 5-4 in the final on Sunday. Shahzor started off in a stormy fashion with four-goal Asif Tiwana blasting a hat trick in the first chukker to give his side 3-0 lead.

Asif converted a 30-yard penalty hit with a lofted shot and then doubled it by converting a 40-yard penalty. He pumped in his third after a long chase of the ball.

Asif missed a 60-yard penalty in the dying minutes.

National wasted a chance of opening the account when Ahmed Ali Tiwana went off target as he converted a 60-yard penalty hit.

Shahzor upheld the lead 4-1 in the second chukker, as both the teams scored a goal each. Asif completed the tally of four goals capitalizing on a 60-yard penalty hit.

Junaid Ahmed drew the first blood for National scoring a field goal off a fine pass from Ahmed Ali.

Ahmed scored his first in the third chukker for National converting a 30-yard penalty hit to reduce the margin 4-2.

In the fourth chukker National managed to level the score 4-4 as Junaid and Ahmed scored a goal each. Junaid struck off a field effort while Ahmad cashed in on a 30-yard penalty.

Asif missed a golden chance when he failed to convert a 60-yard penalty hit in the dying minutes and led the two teams to play the fifth chukker on sudden-death basis.

Taimur scored the goal after receiving a fine pass from Ahmed Ali.

Two goals each by Raja Amer Khan and Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana helped S B Feeds earn third position beating Quality Feeds 6 1/2-3.

Abid Nawaz Khan added the remaining one goal for the winners who had one and a half handicap.

Azhar Ali slammed in two while Feroze Gulzar added one goal for the losers.
