PESHAWAR, Dec 14: District Nazim Haji Gulam Ali on Tuesday banned donkey-carts in Peshawar and said that campaign to remove encroachments from the Circular Road would continue.

Presiding over a meeting held to discuss the problem of increasing traffic jams and encroachments in the city, the nazim said that directives were being given to town officials not to allow donkey-carts in the city. A large number of traders and businessmen attended the meeting.

The nazim asked the business community to help him improve conditions in the city and solve traffic problem which he termed a challenge for the city government.

Traders suggested that pushcarts, donkey-carts and three-wheelers should be allowed entry to Peshawar only on permits.

They supported the drive against encroachments and offered cooperation in the regard.—PPI
