PM praises Shujaat’s efforts

ISLAMABAD, Dec 14: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who met at the Prime Minster’s House on Wednesday evening, discussed matters relating to expediting the relief and rehabilitation operations in the earthquake-hit areas.

The prime minister appreciated the PML president’s role in the UAE telethon and said he had successfully projected Pakistan’s case for motivating the overseas Pakistanis and the international community for raising more funds to help the quake victims.

The two leaders also reviewed the progressin connection with the relief work and expressed their satisfaction over the release of more than Rs17.50 billion to the governments of the NWFP and the AJK for relief and rehabilitation work and expressed the hope that it would enable them to accomplish the gigantic task successfully.

The prime minister congratulated the PML president and the chief minister of Punjab on launching the “Support a Family Programme” and said it had a great potential for providing speedy relief to the victims and shelter to the homeless.

Both the leaders also appreciated the spirit of sharing and caring witnessed after the earthquake and underlined the need to channelise it for achieving larger national objectives.

Matters relating to the PML and the legislative agenda of the National Assembly’s curent session was also discussed.—APP
