ISLAMABAD: Five people were injured during separate robbery incidents while criminals looted cash and valuables from 39 places in the capital.
Police said armed men intercepted Mohammad Asadullah at Bhatana link road when he was going home along with his friend Ghulam Jillani. When the robbers tried to snatch Asadullah’s mobile phone, he put up resistance. One of the robbers then shot him in the leg and escaped.
Similarly, a man booked a ride on Bykea from Peshawar Mor and took the driver, Rehman Ali, to F-8/3 where he stabbed him in the neck and took away his motorcycle. The injured, who was profusely bleeding, was shifted to hospital by a citizen.
A gang of 10 armed men attacked and injured three security guards at Ghouri Town, the police said. Mohammad Usman, Zaigham Touqeer and Usman spotted some people acting suspiciously at Ghouri Town and asked for their identification.
However, the suspects started beating the security guards with the butts of their weapons and snatched Rs57,300 from them.
The injured security guards were shifted to hospital.
Six robbers looted Rs11,000, 4,400 Omani rials and one tola gold and other valuables from Ahsanul Haq at Taronl. The police said after arriving from Muscat, Mr Haq was going home in a passenger wagon when he was looted by the robbers.
Moreover, three robbers intercepted Saghir Abbas at Kak Bridge and snatched his motorcycle, Rs15,000 and a mobile phone. Three persons armed with weapons also robbed Tahir Abbas of a bike and Rs16,400 at T-Chowk.
Two robbers held up Zahid Khan at I-12 and snatched away his motorcycle and Rs8,000 cash while Mohammad Hasnain’s motorcycle was hijacked by three armed men from D-12.
Similarly, three armed persons intercepted Sarwar Alam Khan at I-16 and took away his bike along with a mobile phone and Rs3,000. Yasir Mehmood was robbed of Rs60,000 and a 30-bore pistol.
Burglars broke into the house of Javaid Haideri at E-11/2 and made off with Rs700,000 and 35 tola gold ornaments. A thief in the disguise of a housemaid stole eight tola gold ornaments from the house of Usman Ali at G-13/2.
Burglars broke into the house of Mirza Rehan Yousaf at Naiabadi and made off with Rs56,000, two tola gold ornaments and two mobile phones.
Zubair Ahmed told the police that burglars took away Rs25,000 and two tola gold ornaments along with some household items from his house at Kiani Road.
Burglars also broke into the office of Rami Safdar at G-11 and made off with Rs1,781,000 and three laptops.
Meanwhile, four vehicles were stolen from G-13/2, Ghouri Town, Faisal Masjid parking and Pakistan Town. Besides, 21 were lifted from G-9/2, Kachnar Park, Faizabad, Aabpara, Soan Garden, H-11/4, F-17, I-14/3, Sabzi Mandi, H-9, Parade Ground, G-11/2, Bari Imam shrine, Rawal Dam, F-11, Sihala, DHA and Islamabad Homes.
