MUZAFFARGARH: A nine-year-old child drowned after he slipped into the Taliri Canal on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Asad, a resident of Bihari Colony. He was playing at the canal bank while other boys were taking a bath in it.
Meanwhile, his foot slipped, he fell into the canal and drowned.
The locals took his body out hours after the incident.
DENGUE: Deputy Commissioner Ali Annan Qamar says practical steps should be taken to prevent the dengue virus before the rainy season.
Presiding over a meeting to review the dengue situation, he said only there was only one dengue patient in the district while others were under observation.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ehsanul Haq, Assistant Commissioner Muzaffargarh Jamil Haider Shah, CEO Health Dr Muhammad Fayyaz were also present in the meeting.
Mr Qammar said the scope of diagnosis of dengue should be widened and such places and breeding spots of dengue mosquitoes be screened.
The meeting was told that the sole dengue patient in the district had arrived from Karachi. It was also informed that 233 teams had been formed to check the dengue larvae in a house-to-house drive and 39,144 houses had been checked, so far.
The DC said the larvae should be checked in dark places, old tires, air coolers and water tanks, offices and on rooftops. He said he would personally check various offices at different times.
