KARACHI, Dec 10: Four-year-old filly, Fantastic Face, is fancied to grab the Quaid-i-Azam Trial Cup when the Winter Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

She is drawn alongside 10 opponents in the 10 furlongs eighth race of the programme which is restricted for Pakistani horses of four years and upwards.

The filly was smartly piloted home by riding boy Muhammad Essa to land Karachi St. Leger Cup by three and a half length on Nov 20. Her form and fitness suggests that she would repeat the feat.

Also in contention will be four-year-old colt, Al Faris, who lifted the Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara Double Birthday Cup recently and Blue Breeze.

The race will serve as trial for the prestigious Quaid-i-Azam Cup which is slated for Dec 25.

A card of 10 races has been chalked out for the day with first race starting at 11.30am. In addition to the Quaid-i-Azam Trial Cup, the programme includes two more cups.

Three-year-old filly, Victory Road, is poised to clinch the Colts and Fillies Trial Cup which will have a field of six contestants. She will, however, have to overcome Secret Conquest and Makina in the seven furlongs outing.

Sher-e-Gujrat is favourite to lift the Sapphire Stake Cup. Conquest To Conqueror and Zidane should settle for places.

Seven-year-old bay horse Royal Lancer, who was surprisingly beaten to second position by Sea Biscuit in the last outing, should pick up the spoils in the opener. I’M So Happy and Baby Tabassum should settle for places.

Sweet Mover, a five-year-old horse, is fancied to run away with the honours in the second race. Azam The Great and Auzy should follow for the places.

Three-year-old filly, Voo Doo Doll, should dictate terms in the third race. She is likely to be chased by Silent Angel and Arabian Queen.

Three-year-old bay colt, Janu Janwar, is fancied to make it two in a row. He had triumphed by five-and-a-quarter length last Sunday. Fillies Ouija Board and Countess Mah Again are there to pose challenge to Janu Janwar.

Four-year-old chestnut, Sharp Cat, who had to be content with second slot in the last meeting by a narrow margin, and three-year-old colts, Leopard and Yes Naeem are fancied to pick up spoils in the remaining three races.
