SUKKUR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Haji Abdul Rauf Khoso along with a large number party workers and lawyers from Kashmore taluka on Friday staged a protest demonstration against the provincial election commission over “unfair” delimitation of the Old Kashmore constituency.
Speaking to local reporters MPA Khoso said that under the recent delimitations carried out by the election commission, Kandhkot-Kashmore district having a population of almost 1.1 million would have only one seat in the National Assembly. The Shikarpur district having around 1.2 million population had two NA seats, he argued.
Elected to the Sindh Assembly from PS-4, the lawmaker said that the Kashmore Circle and LC Circle had been part of his constituency in Kashmore taluka under the delimitations retained for the last 6 general elections, but Tapu Zor Garh had now been cut off from the LC Circle for its annexation in the PS-5 constituency while Bandani Tapo Gandheer had been annexed in his (PS-4) constituency after detaching it from PS-5.
It was injustice done to the people of Tapu Zor Garh, he said.
He noted that Jacobabad district had once three NA seats. After its bifurcation, one seat was withdrawn and given to Karachi, said the lawmaker. The protesters demanded restoration of Kashmore’s previous demarcation and allocation of two NA seats to it.
