Cheques given to co-op depositors

LAHORE, Dec 9: Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation has paid back over Rs7.75 billion to 225,000 depositors of defunct cooperative societies so far, including Rs5 billion paid by the NAB, Punjab, since May 2001. Loan procured from consortium of banks has also been paid back in full.

Board chairman Brig Muhammad Farooq Maan retired disclosed this in his address of welcome to the new Director-General of National Accountability Bureau, Punjab, Maj-Gen Sajjad Akram at a ceremony held at Chamba House here on Friday morning to distribute cheques worth Rs30 million to 165 account-holders of defunct cooperative finance companies.
