Students returning from Ukraine seeks govt help
SWAT: Medical students returning from Ukraine due to war there staged a demonstration here the other day, demanding the government to order the medical colleges in Pakistan to give them admission so they could continue their studies.
They claimed that several medical colleges here had refused them admission.
The students, including Mansoor Alam Khan, Umair Iqbal, Aminur Rehman and others, held placards and chanted slogans in favour of their demand. They marched from Nishat Chowk and gathered in front of Swat Press Club.
The students said that they were studying in various medical colleges in Ukraine, but since the situation deteriorated due to the Russian invasion their colleges were closed and they had to flee to Poland to save their lives.
“From Poland, we returned to Pakistan and now there is no chance to go back to Ukraine. We tried to take admission here in the medical colleges of Pakistan, but we are not being accommodated,” they said.
They claimed that unlike them the other foreign students had got admission in educational institutions of their respective countries.
They demanded the government to issue orders to the relevant departments for their admission to any medical college in the country.
