ABBOTTABAD, Dec 8: Leaders of public opinion have demanded a judicial inquiry into alleged embezzlement of funds earmarked for distribution among earthquake-affected people of Abbottabad district by the district government and Baitul Mal. The demand was made by former Abbottabad district naib nazim Javed Abbasi, former provincial minister Ali Afzal Jadoon and local leaders of component parties of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy at a joint press conference held on Thursday.
They said that a heavy chunk of funds supposed to be granted to the quake victims had been given by the local elected representatives to their supporters.
They said that the relief cheques had been distributed on the basis of likes and dislikes of the district government representatives.
