INTENSE SUMMER

Published May 20, 2022

INTENSE SUMMER: Climate change has started to wreak havoc in the country. Karachi witnessed its hottest day in March, and the temperature in Sibi district rose up to 50 degrees Celsius in May. Animals are dying from thirst in many areas across the country, and humans are compelled to drink contaminated water. Deforestation is one of the leading causes of death in Balochistan. The locals are directly involved in deforestation, but are unaware of its consequences. It is high time they were educated about the effects of deforestation before it gets too late.

POST-RAMAZAN SPIRIT: The holy month of Ramazan is over. The effort now should be to keep up the spirit and perform the good deeds in our everyday life post-Ramazan, too. Only fasting is the element that is specific to Ramazan. Other than that, whatever we did during the holy month is actually what we should be doing all year long.

If we continue our routines as they were during Ramazan, we will become good human beings. Let’s do that.

TOPAK ZAMAA QANOON: A Pashto film Topak Zamaa Qanoon (Gun is my law) was released in Pakistan about 55 years ago. What is happening in Sri Lanka in recent days is more like a glimpse of what the movie title means. Are we heading to see the full-length film in Pakistan? This is a question to any and every sane person in Pakistan, provided there are some still around in the country!

SLOGANEERING: The recent politically charged hooliganism at the second holiest site in Islam was extremely unfortunate and has taken Pakistan’s political divide to a new low. People chanting slogans at a place where one is not supposed to raise one’s voice was a terrible sight to behold. The incident needs to be condemned with the force it deserves.
