Flamenco music, dance keep audience mesmerised
ISLAMABAD: A spectacular performance combining flamenco music and dance was presented on Wednesday night. Songs rich with emotion, complimented by fluid dance movements created a thrilling experience for both the audience and artists.
The event was hosted by the Spanish embassy at the new cricket ground of Islamabad Club. Juan Manuel Espinosa Torres played the Spanish acoustic guitar and David Bastidas Mesas was the vocalist. The dance was performed by Maria Asuncion Perez Garcia and Victor Bravo, who have dedicated their entire lives to the art of flamenco.
“The entire performance was therapeutic for me,” one of the guests said. After the show, the performers were praised by people.
The group came all the way from Spain and will be touring major cities of the country including Lahore, Faisalabad and Karachi.
“Tonight, was the opening night of the tour. This group is renowned in Spain so you can always count on an amazing evening and we are pleased to present them today,” the Spanish ambassador, Manuel Duran Gimenez-Rico, said.
It has been a trend of the Spanish embassy to not only introduce people to flamenco but also filmmakers and musicians, and it will continue to do this, Mr Rico said.
The artists combined this traditional dance with modern theatrical elements like colourful lighting, amazing sound, showy skills and freestyle dancing.
