Turkey building 10 schools

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6: “Turkey has constructed 10 steel-fabricated school buildings in the quake-ravaged areas of the NWFP and Azad Kashmir,” a Turkish delegation told Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao. A 10-member Turkish delegation, led by Chairman Private Schools Association (Turkey) Mr Fikret, called on the minister here on Tuesday in his office and told him that Turkish government had built six of the school buildings in Muzaffarabad and two each in Mansehra and Balakot besides establishing three tent villages and some relief camps and running a food support programme.

The delegation leader said they were establishing a high standard school in Islamabad and the Capital Development Authority had allotted them four acres for this purpose. He added that 14 Turkish schools were already working in Pakistan.

“Turkish private sector is very keen to invest in Pakistan, particularly in joint ventures and education sector, Mr Fikret said.

The minister lauded the role of Turkish government in the relief and rehabilitation works, saying that the people of Pakistan could never forget the kind gesture of Turkish people.

He said that the establishment of Turkish schools in Pakistan would promote bilateral relation between the two countries.

The minister welcomed Turkish investment in Pakistan and said that several fields were open here for Turkish businessmen, besides education sector.

The government policies were investment-friendly and provided all types of support to investors, Mr Sherpao said.
